Harry Chapin
America was lucky enough to have a folk rock singer - songwriter named Harry Chapin in the 1970’s. You may remember some of hits like “Taxi”, “Cat in the Cradle”, “Mr. Tanner”, “Story of a Life” and many more hits that sold more than 16 million record sales.
Yes, we had vinyl records back then. He is a Grammy Hall of Fame member and achieved world wide success. Whenever he came to our area, we got the best seats we could afford to see him.
More than a Singer, Harry was a philanthropist who donated a portion of all concerts sales to Hunger Relief efforts near his home in Long Island, NY and around the world. He inspired us all time and again.
Tragically he lost his life in a car accident on the Long Island Expressway in 1981. Many of us remember where we were when we heard the news and wept.
It is in Harry’s Memory, we pledge to start our company by donating 1% of our sales to Local Food Banks. We will make a donation to a different Food Bank every month moving it around the country. As we grow, we would like to increase our Donations.
Yes Harry, we remember you fondly, still play your Music and recall well your song, “ A Better Place to Be”.
